Small Town Girl is the third single lifted from country rock artist Troy Kemp’s new solo album, Against the Grain. Written by Troy Kemp and Jeremy Barnes, it’s a fun-loving, summery song and follows on from the #1 country radio & video hit, How We Roll Around Here, with a laid back cool country feel.
Directed and produced by The Filmery’s Josh Favaloro and Brock Daubert with a backdrop akin to a high budget movie set, Small Town Girl was shot on a picturesque Hunter Valley property, complete with a boathouse, dam with an old dock, rolling hills, a windmill, dried up creek bed, and a chapel on the hill in the background.
“We arrived before daybreak to catch the sunrise behind us and the results look amazing! The lads from The Filmery were tireless and did a great job behind the camera, and my band mates, Jeremy Barnes, Jarrod Gibson and Mick Britt, gave it their all, take after take,” said Troy Kemp.
“We also shot some nice scenes at the Twin Rivers Café in Gresford and the ‘real life couple’ that we used for our storyboard, Tim Ollier and Ashlee Shannon, did an amazing job of portraying the story behind the song. It was a big time, small town day and I hope the fans enjoy it!”
Previously part of the award-winning duo, McAlister Kemp, Troy has achieved recognition and accolades both locally and internationally, headlining some of the nation’s biggest music festivals, remaining a mainstay in country radio with multiple Australian Country Chart #1’s, as well as winning a coveted Golden Guitar.
