It’s set to be an amazing night with some of the greatest rock artists coming together to raise money and awareness for YWCA NSW’s mentoring and leadership programs for disadvantaged kids including Big Brothers Big SistersTM.

A Night At The Rock Opera invites the audience to enjoy hits from some of the most memorable musicals.

The MC for the evening will be Richard Wilkins and the Musical Director is Paul Gray of Wa Wa Nee fame.

“This is the first time a cast of this magnitude has been assembled to perform the hit songs from these rock musicals.  We have assembled an incredible backing band of Australia’s hottest musicians and a high tech audio visual production.  ”… - Producer, Marc Christowski of Empire Touring.

YWCA NSW Chief Executive Officer, Kate Frost said: “There are many thousands of vulnerable children in the areas of Sydney where YWCA NSW works who have no-one to turn to for support.  There are usually high incidences of domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, unemployment and mental health concerns in their families.”  “The money raised from A Night at the Rock Opera will enable us to continue to run these programs for another 12 months and support more of the kids who need our help,” she said.

YWCA NSW has been raising much needed funds for over 130 years to support vulnerable people throughout their lives - regardless of their age, religion or gender - especially at those critical times when they need help the most.  YWCA NSW currently only has funds to work with a very small percentage of at-risk young people in Sydney and have many more on a waiting list. In the past 12 months alone, through the generous support of their donors and partners, YWCA NSW has supported more than 2,000 young people in Sydney by providing a long term positive role model. Over the last eight years, events such as this have raised over $3m in vital funds, supporting over 250,000 people.

“I am really excited to be part of this great night in support of the YWCA NSW.  Young people need positive support and guidance and that’s where YWCA NSW steps in providing positive adult role models who act as mentors to these kids during their difficult childhood and teenage years. I have been fortunate enough to travel all over Australia working with disadvantage kids and it’s heart breaking to see.  Children and young people are our future.  I hope this night of entertainment raises the much needed funds that YWCA NSW requires”…- Casey Donovan
