Queensland Sister Trio, DOZZI, Release Soaring Duet as New Single - At Radio Now

I Need You Tonight -

DOZZI's Special Duet with DREW McALISTER

Queensland’s musical sweethearts, sister trio Dozzi, are spreading their proverbial wings with the release of their beautiful new single I Need You Tonight, a duet with Drew McAlister.

The single is an apt representation of the stunning vocal abilities of the sisters, who have been earning their stripes on the Australian music scene for several years. Honing their skills and refining their breathtaking three part harmonies, Dozzi – Andrea, Jesse & Nina – have quickly become the name on many a music lover’s lips, and it’s evident that with the release of their latest single, these charismatic siblings are set for something big.

The single I Need You Tonight is the perfect teaser for the sisters’ debut album Risk It All that is slated for release later this year. The album is completely Dozzi, there are tracks the sisters wrote when they were teenagers, up to songs that were penned during the recording process in Nashville. It will really show the diversity and talent these three Brisbane girls possess and as its name suggests, it really does risk it all. “Some people may think they know what Dozzi is or what we have to offer, but this album is full of surprises and each song has something to say,” says Jesse. “It’s the first time we’ve been able to gather up our deepest fears, thoughts, feelings, three personalities and roll them into one honest album. It’s Dozzi… it’s us.”

And I Need You Tonight is certainly the perfect track for the girls’ next single. Jesse says when they sat down to write the song, they consciously decided to make it a duet. Penned with accomplished international musician Chris Tuttle, the track was written on the second day of a song writing session. “It only took a few hours [to write],” Jesse says. “I think the core meaning of the song is so universal. Since the three of us had already been away from home for about a month, we were really missing our family and partners, the song just flowed very naturally.”

When Drew McAlister, a songwriter within his own right and half of popular band McAlister Kemp, heard the track, he was excited to be involved. Jesse says once they heard Drew’s vocals on the track, it was a perfect fit. “We are so thankful he agreed to lend his voice to the song,” she says. “It’s one of the best vocal performances of his we’ve ever heard. From the beginning we knew that this song was special, even when we were only half way through writing it, it just had that spark. When you listen to I Need You Tonight it makes you feel good inside, and with the addition of Drew McAlister’s voice, the song just took on a life of its own.”

It has been an incredible couple of years for Dozzi, and this certainly looks to continue with the release of I Need You Tonight and their forthcoming debut long player Risk It All. In 2013, the sisters won the Australian Country Music People’s Choice Award for Best Video (for the track Love Away The Bad Days) and were also invited to perform the national anthem on television several times.

Dozzi are a hard trio to pigeonhole, their style has been described as a mix of influences from Alanis Morissette, Rascal Flatts and (unsurprisingly) The Dixie Chicks. Harking from a heavily musical family, each sister contributes evenly to the songwriting and all share lead vocals. Their soaring three-part harmonies, catchy melodies and high energy, charismatic performances are quickly garnering them fans around the country.

Dozzi’s new single I Need You Tonight (a duet with Drew McAlister) is at radio now.
