Celebrating the release of her third solo album – Time Is Now – powerhouse songstress Rose Carleo is packing her bags and hitting the road for a string of tour dates to share the exciting new material with fans around the country. Announcing the first leg of her tour dates this week, the shows will see this impressive performer, who effortlessly straddles the blues-rock-country genres, perform kick ass shows throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Time Is Now is the album that Rose Carleo was always destined to make, it is jam-packed with killer riffs, ballsy vocals and incredible hooks, and is definitely one of those releases that will translate into an incredible live show.
Rose will not only be showcasing the new songs from Time Is Now, including the recently released single of the same title, at her shows, but also drawing on her two acclaimed previous releases, as well as a few favourite cover tracks. To get the total album experience, she is also taking the full band out on the road with her, which promises to be an unforgettable evening.
“They will definitely rock,” says Rose. “Although, the first show on this tour will be the first time we’ve all played an actual show together. Of course, we all played together in the studio to record, but playing out live is different again. I can’t wait – it is going to be huge!”
And that’s the point of difference for this tour. Rose will actually be taking all the musicians who played on the album out on the road with her. This wasn’t a case of just working with them in the studio, they’ve all become part of the Time is Now process and seeing that studio chemistry in a live setting is certainly going to be a special thing. The band features Mick Adkins on guitars [Rogue Sharks / Raise The Flag], Paul Woseen on bass and backing vocals [The Screaming Jets / Rose Tattoo] and Ben Ashwood on drums [Rogue Sharks].
“I’ll guess that makes them my touring band too,” says Rose. “I’ve toured with Mick quite a bit, as he is also one of the main songwriters on my album and co-produced it between myself, Mark Opitz and Colin Wynne. I’ve just been on the road with Paul (Woseen) recently too. I was his special guest on his solo acoustic Bombido tour in January. It was awesome. I had a great time and we travel well together too – he’s like a brother. I can’t wait to get Ben out on the road with us, he’s a sensational, high energy drummer and a great guy.”
Performing live has always been a really important part of Rose’s music career. “Live music has, and always will be part of our Australian culture and way of life, so it’s important to keep it going for generations to come,” she says. “Music makes the world go around. I think the most special thing about playing my original material to Australian fans is their passion for music and wanting to be part of the live music process in some way! Whether it be giving you an honest opinion about how your music makes them feel, or by spreading the world to their mates, one thing is for sure – Aussies will always tell you the truth. If they love what you do, you’ll have a fan for life. Music is the common denominator – it’s what ties us all together.”
It has been a long process to bring Time is Now to fruition and taking the songs out on the road is the ultimate triumph. “I’m so excited I don’t think I’ll believe it until it happens,” Rose says. “Since I started writing for this album, planning the theme of the album and in many cases ‘living’ the songs, it feels like forever ago. It takes a lot of time for the stars to align as such, but now I feel they finally have. It’s a phenomenal feeling really – I’ve already lived with these songs for over a year and getting to play them to a rockin’ audience will be fantastic. They have all taken on a life of their own (as they’re supposed to) and I feel like a proud parent would I guess, but 10 times over for each song! The icing on the cake is releasing my third album that I’m proud of and getting out around Australia playing the songs live with my band.”
Time is Now is due for release on Friday 27 March 2015 through WJO. There will also be exclusive pre-release copies of the album available on Rose’s tour.
