LYNYRD SKYNYRD announce first ever Australia tour!

Southern rock royalty LYNYRD SKYNYRD has heralded the calls of their devoted fans, announcing their very first Australian shows since the band’s formation.

Boasting a rich and prolific history of more than 60 albums and sales exceeding 30 million worldwide, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s southern sounds are etched on the American rock landscape and their cult classics such as ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and ‘Free Bird’ ingrained in the American spirit.

Reunited and reignited, Lynyrd Skynyrd - including core members Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlock - will lead a fiery, guitar-driven assault on The Plenary, Melbourne, on February 11 and the Sydney Entertainment Centre on February 13.

Tickets for both shows go on sale at 9am Monday October 21.

My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning 10am Thursday October 17.

Formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in the late 1960s Lynyrd Skynyrd’s unbridled passion for making music, expert harmonies and powerful melodies still stand strong – a cultural icon that appeals to all generations.

Following the success of their 2009 album, Billboard top 20 ‘God & Guns’, last year the band recorded ‘Last of a Dyin’ Breed’, the album delivering their highest position since 1977, debuting at #14 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart.

The Skynyrd story could have ended in a Mississippi swamp with the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band has lost vital players in Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Hughie Thomasson, yet their collective unbridled passion for making music and their unyielding drive remains.

Testament to their tremendous legacy, here Lynyrd Skynyrd will stand delivering a hard-rocking show of “instantly memorable songs, more hooks than a tackle box, and a blistering three-guitar attack at full power”!
