JOHN REILLY AND FRIENDS
featuring BECKY STARK and TOM BROSSEAU
STEVE SMYTH confirmed to open the show
John C. Reilly, a familiar face on the silver screen and the boards of Broadway – Oscar, Golden Globe and Tony nominee - brings his beloved bluegrass music project to the East Coast for two special shows.
Australia’s own Steve Smyth has been handpicked by Reilly to open the show for John Reilly and Friends at Sydney’s The Factory Theatre on December 3 and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on December 6.
Smyth, who has recently returned to Australia after basing himself in the UK, is well on his way to being certified a bona fide superstar.
The self-confessed troubadour is fresh from tour supports for Angus Stone, Snow Patrol, Sean Lennon and Ben Harper amongst others, and his debut album, ‘Release’, drew worldwide acclaim including a four star rating from French Rolling Stone.
Smyth will join the musically inclined actor John C. Reilly and his friends - Tom Brosseau and Lavender Diamond's Becky Stark – for two rare shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
An accomplished musician, Reilly is better known for his roles in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Boogie Nights, The Thin Red Line, Gangs of New York, Days of Thunder, Casualties of War, The Perfect Storm, The Hours and co-starring with Will Farrell in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Step Brothers.
Reilly received Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actor in Chicago.
John Reilly and Friends have released works through Jack White’s ‘Third Man Records’, receiving the ‘seal of cool’ with several releases such as ‘Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar’ and ‘I’ll Be There If You Ever Want’ produced by Jack White III himself.
Reilly will be in Australia promoting the new Disney animation ‘Wreck It Ralph’.
