2013 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition Finalists Announced!

APRA AMCOS and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia (NRMTA)

 

 are proud to announce the

 

Finalists in the 2013 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition.

 

The judging panel of 25 have been completely overwhelmed by the calibre of this year’s entries and have had the unenviable task of narrowing the field from the 3300 song submissions down to just 35 finalists who will be in the running for the incredible $50,000 first prize courtesy of APRA and Alberts Music, with second place receiving $10,000 thanks to AMPAL and third place receiving $5,000 thanks to UBISOFT.

 

With 1900 applicants from all over the world, the finalists are a diverse bunch including a mix of established artists, up and comers and some new kids on the block. Without further ado, the finalists in the 2013 Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition in alphabetical order with song title and stage name listed are:

2013 marks the third iteration of the biennial Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition and this year’s winner will join a select group of Vanda & Young Award recipients that currently includes 2009’s Megan Washington and 2011’s Kimbra Johnson. The top three finalists will be announced on Friday 16 August.

 

Applicants paid an entry fee of $50 per submission with money raised going directly to supporting Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia. We are delighted to reveal that this year’s competition has raised an astounding $166 000 for this very worthy cause.
