Have you ever dreamed of being a rockstar or playing on stage!

Weekend Warriors may be just what you have been looking for!

Weekend Warriors have coaches, mentors and a program that suits anyone, it does not matter what your profession, Weekend Warriors is all about your love of music and the fact that you are never too old to rock and roll!

Weekend Warriors enables the lapsed muso’s or beginner, who has been practicing in their bedroom for years, the chance to dust off their musical instruments and recapture the adrenalin of their first or last live performance.  Weekend Warriors cover most genres of music including Rock, Blues, Metal, Pop, Country Rock, Soul, Funk and Jazz.  The Warriors are put into bands of complimentary ability and all members work towards that Big Gig.  The course runs for six weeks, Warriors are supplied with a rehearsal room, all equipment and a coach who mentors the band to that big gig for family and friends.

“It was the absolute best way to go through a mid life crisis, without looking like a fool. Ultimately it was the most exciting, exhilarating and best fun I have ever had with a bunch of great people who have become friends for life. I don’t think I could ever relive that moment again, but would sure like to try.” - Dave Doz, (Financial Controller).

“Being an over-50’s long-term Bass guitar “learner” I was hesitant to register not knowing what was ahead with the fear of making myself look stupid in the company of accomplished musicians. However the support from our musical mentor Paul Christie, the Allans Music/Billy Hyde Alexandria store manager Marc Watson and his staff, and fellow WW participants, those fears were soon set aside. So don’t hesitate, do the WW program!” - John Duncombe

Legends of Australian rock music, Dai Pritchard of 'Rose Tattoo' and Paul Christie of 'Mondo Rock', coaches bring their wealth of experience to the amateur who wants to play for fun and meet other musicians.

“Ultimately, Weekend Warriors allows participants to recapture their love of playing music and have a ball with their mates in the process. ”It gives them a new lease of life, reduces stress and strengthens bonds with their kids who might also play an instrument, so they can jam together.” - Paul Christie

Weekend Warriors hugely successful program that runs across Australia and you can now enrol for FREE at these locations: ABH - Alexandria, Mall Music – Brookvale, Beat of the Shire - Caringbah, and Muso's Corner – Newcastle. Link: http://weekendwarriors.org.au/enrol-for-free/  For most Warriors, it will be a life changing experience.  Weekend Warriors believe in giving something back to the community so, all proceeds after costs from the Big Gig, will be donated to a local charity.

Dates have been set for two more programs in Caringbah and Newcastle. In Caringbah the next round hosted by Beat of the Shire and kicks off with the JAM on Sunday, Aug 16th, 2:30pm at Kareela Golf Club, followed by the Big Gig on September 27th.  In Newcastle the next round to be hosted by Muso’s Corner, with the JAM in store on Tuesday, September 1st and the gig on Sunday, October 11th at the Northern Star Hotel.

Weekend Warriors is run by Recreational Music Making Australia Pty Ltd in partnership with the Australian Music Association Inc.

Weekend Warriors started in Sacramento, California in 1993, by Skip Maggiora of Skip's Music store. His band had opened for Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. When he had to give up his rock star dreams to feed his family, he started the store in 1973. He noticed that musicians, who'd gone on to be brain surgeons and truck drivers, were in their '40s & 50s returning and wanting to rediscover their youth again through music making. It was introduced under license into Australia in 2001 by the Australian Music Association Inc.
