Country music fans have spoken. Announced late last week, Troy Kemp has been named as one of the finalist’s for Male Artist of the Year at this year’s CMC Music Awards, as well as taking home The Frank Ifield International Spur Award. Part of the award includes the international release of a single, which has seen Kemp’s Small Town Girl debut at #9 on this week’s UK and European Hotdisc Top 40 chart.
Since its release to radio back in September 2017, Kemp’s current Australian single, A Little More Country has continued to receive much airplay and support across the country, maintaining a solid spot in The Music Network’s country Top 20 airplay chart for the past few months. It was the fourth single released from his debut solo album, Against the Grain.
“It’s a song for all the people out there who say they’re not country music fans. Maybe if they dig a little deeper and listen to the words, they might realise they’re “a little more country” than they think!” – Troy Kemp
Previously part of the award-winning duo, McAlister Kemp, Troy has achieved recognition and accolades both locally and internationally, headlining some of the nation’s biggest music festivals, remaining a mainstay in country radio with multiple Australian Country Chart #1’s, as well as winning a coveted Golden Guitar. Adding to that, The Frank Ifield International Spur Award, which is based on potential global appeal, the artist’s individual style and professionalism of performance both on and off stage, 2017’s is shaping up to be an outstanding year for this popular country rock represent.
