Many say they are the hottest band in country music and Lee Kernaghan certainly agrees. Lee has signed up Australia’s Got Talent finalists The Wolfe Brothers for another national tour that will run for three months.

The Songs & The Stories In Concert tour kicks off on September 3 in Townsville QLD, and continuing to every state until mid-November. This tour will also see the third anniversary of the Kernaghan – Wolfe Brothers musical relationship.

Lee saw the band perform on Australia’s Got Talent and was blown away with their energy and sound. A couple of weeks after seeing them on the show he flew them up to Sydney for an audition. After playing just three songs in the studio, he hired them as his band for the Beautiful Noise National Tour and also gave them the coveted ‘Special Guest’ spot on the tour.

This support means to world to the boys from Tasmania. “There is no denying that Lee’s belief in us has been a huge catalyst in making our dream of becoming full time touring band a reality,” says lead guitarist Brodie Rainbird. “Thanks to LK we have been able to tour and play the songs from our two albums to full houses all over Australia and then have the privilege of playing on stage with one of our country music heroes. It is still sort of surreal looking across the stage and seeing Lee performing with us and playing the songs that we listened to hundreds of times driving to gigs in Tasmania over the years. It has been a great ride with Lee and we have loved every minute of it.”

Nick Wolfe says The Songs & The Stories tour with Lee will be a great experience for the four-piece. “It will stretch us as musicians and as performers,” he says. “Lee is doing the show in two parts, something he has never done before. Part One will feature the stories behind some of his most important songs. We will be performing these songs with him in a semi-acoustic mode where Lee will give a unique insight into the stories behind the hits. It will be intimate and I guess is an extension of the book Lee released earlier this year, which was pretty much an insight into the stories behind many of the songs that Lee has recorded during his career. In Part Two, we will perform songs from Lee’s Spirit Of The Anzacs album. These songs are real life stories that pay tribute to our Anzacs over the last 100 years. We are definitely feeling the pressure to deliver our very best. This tour is so much more than our usual shows. Each song will be brought to life with a production that incorporates amazing theatrical lighting and a large video screen. It is going to be incredible.”

Drummer Casey Kostiuk says there will be two additional musicians and vocalists joining the band on stage for Lee’s show. “Christie Lamb and Jonathan English will work with Tom and Nick to create a four-part vocal group behind Lee plus between Christie and Jonathan they add additional acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keyboards, mandolin and banjo to the band,” he says. “I am also looking forward to playing percussion in the semi-acoustic part of the show.  I feel that this tour is going to be an awesome experience for us and our aim is to deliver a musical journey to the audience.”

The whole band is looking forward to this special tour. “I am a big fan of Christie Lamb” says Tom Wolfe. “I am looking forward to working with her and Jonathan. It will be a great show for the fans with Christie opening the concert with a couple of her songs. We will then do a selection of our songs in the semi-acoustic mode as well. As a band we feel it is really important to stretch ourselves and thanks to Lee we have been given numerous opportunities where we have had to step outside of our performance comfort zone and deliver for LK and for the audience. This show is a massive example of that stretching outside the normal and safe boundaries that we are familiar with. This show is going to be amazing and we are looking forward to performing our best songs in a semi-acoustic and intimate setting. Brother Nick is busy practicing his keyboard skills for this tour and this will add another dimension to our band for the future.”

Plans for a Live CD / DVD are in work to release for the tour in September. When the tour wraps up in November The Wolfe Brothers will be heading to Nashville to record their highly anticipated third album with producer Luke Wooten.
