The Letter by Suze DeMarchi feat. Tex Perkins (originally penned by the late Wayne Carson Thompson and performed by The Box Tops) is the second single lifted from SUZE DEMARCHI’S solo album, HOME, which was released on Friday, 24 July, via Social Family Records.
DeMarchi has an enduring friendship with the legendary rocker Tex Perkins. The pair performed The Letter when they hit the road for the RocKwiz tour a few years back and DeMarchi contributed vocals in a cover of Bob Seger’s ballad We’ve Got Tonight, which featured on Perkins’ 2008 LADYBOYZ album. On The Letter Perkins returns the favour and their natural chemistry just oozes from the recording.
“I always wanted to do something with Tex because he’s awesome. Tex is just…c’mon he’s so hot. He’s a rock legend, he’s got the loudest voice of anyone I’ve sung with.” – Suze DeMarchi
The release of HOME marked fifteen years since the enigmatic singer’s first solo album and includes a collection of familiar songs about “home”, originally recorded by a diverse set of artists such as Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Clash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sheryl Crow, Adele, Ryan Adams and more. Putting her own unique sound to each song, DeMarchi teamed up with some other Aussie legends in addition to Tex Perkins, including Jimmy Barnes, Diesel, Russell Morris, Dallas Frasca, and ARIA and APRA award-winning artist and producer, Shane Nicholson.
