The annual RED HOT SUMMER TOUR is hitting the road around regional Australia again in 2015 with a massive Aussie rock line-up packed full of classic hits. Featuring Hoodoo Gurus, James Reyne plays Australian Crawl, Daryl Braithwaite and Boom Crash Opera. There will also be a host of special guests joining the popular tour at select venues throughout Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

RED HOT SUMMER TOUR promoter Duane McDonald says the special guests include the likes of The Angels, Mondo Rock, Ian Moss and Diesel. “This year’s RED HOT SUMMER TOUR has been structured slightly differently to previous years,” he says. “We have the tour line-up of Hoodoo Gurus, James Reyne plays Australian Crawl, Daryl Braithwaite and Boom Crash Opera, who will be performing at every concert, joined by different special guests at each venue. This gives us a chance to make each concert an individual experience for music fans. We’re lucky to have this incredible line-up on the tour and some amazing special guests to make each concert special.”

From what started as a show in an inner city lounge room in 1981, the iconic Hoodoo Gurus smashed onto the Aussie music scene and won the hearts of the rockin’ public. With a swag of singles such as Waking Up Tired, Miss Freelove 69, Bittersweet, The Right Time and the chart topping What’s My Scene, this band is ingrained in Australian music history. Featuring revered musicians, Hoodoo Gurus debut album was named the Australian Debut Album of the Year and when it was released in the US, it sat at #1 on the Alternative/College charts for seven weeks. The band have too many great tracks to mention, as audiences will find out when they take to the stage at the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR and have deservedly been elected into the ARIA Hall of Fame. While over the years they’ve taken small hiatuses, the band always find their way back onto the musical stage together. They’ve got almost a dozen albums under their belt and there is no doubt, even more to follow, there is no other way to really say, the Hoodoo Gurus rock!

James Reyne plays Australian Crawl - the Crawl Files Live is the closest thing fans will ever get to an Australian Crawl reunion, as James assembles an exceptional band to play the songbook of Australian Crawl – a no holds barred, full band, rock ’n’ roll assault, performing the greatest songbook of Aussie Crawl. Back in January of this year, the Australian Crawl catalogue was released digitally for the first time, with ‘The Greatest Hits’ making it to number one on the iTunes chart and number 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart.  At one point, there were five Australian Crawl albums in the iTunes top 100.  In addition to this, James received an Order of Australia for his charitable work and services to Australian music and the arts.

When it comes to recognisable voices in the Australian music scene, there are few as impressive as that of Daryl Braithwaite. In a diverse career that has spanned decades, Daryl’s consistency as a performer has never wavered, something that sees him performing regularly to packed crowds around the country. Starting his career in the 1970s as the frontman for Sherbet, Daryl was crowned King of Pop and the band produced 20 national Top 40 singles. Songs like Howzat and Summer Love became ingrained in the national psyche. In the 1980’s Daryl set out on his own solo career, kicking off with the smash hit album Edge featuring singles such as One Summer and As The Days Go By. His follow-up album Rise spawned the single The Horses, a song which never fails to get massive audience participation. Daryl’s most recent EP of new material Forever The Tourist through his former long-time record company Sony is earning him a whole new legion of fans. For anyone who loves music, it’s not surprising to know that Daryl regularly performs to packed out crowds around the country, and if you need a taste of his live shows, he also released a live DVD a couple of years ago (his first).

With songs like Onion Skin, Hands Up In the Air, Bettadaze and The Best Thing to name a few, Boom Crash Opera embody the spirit of 80s and 90s Australian rock. With Melbourne-based Dale Ryder on vocals, there are few Aussie music fans who wouldn’t be familiar with the band’s impressive back catalogue. Boom Crash Opera smashed onto the music scene with their debut single Great Wall in the mid-80s and never looked back. Described as one of the country’s most underestimated pop phenomenons, it is in their live shows that Boom Crash Opera really shine. A Boom Crash Opera show ensures audiences are on their feet from the start to the finish, an enviable quality for a band.

Special guests appearing at select events throughout the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR run include The Angels, Mondo Rock, Ian Moss and Diesel (see show details for individual line-up). When it comes to great Aussie rock, it doesn’t come much better than The Angels. It’s been four decades since brothers Rick and John Brewster co-founded the iconic band and over the years they’ve penned some of Australia’s most anthemic tracks. With hits like Long Line, Marseille, Be With You, After the Rain, Shadow Boxer and Mr Damage to name a few, audiences will be in for a treat when The Angels take to the stage. Mondo Rock are one of the most iconic bands to rock Australia and it’s no surprise that all their hits are still a staple on Australian radio. Between 1977 and 1991 they had almost too many hits to count, from Come Said The Boy, State of the Heart and Cool World to name a few.

Ian Moss is without doubt one of the country’s most prolific guitarists. His own solo career has seen him release hits such as Telephone Booth and Tucker’s Daughter, as well as traverse the blues rock genre with releases that have seen him become a festival favourite. The Cold Chisel guitarist is one of the country’s most revered performers and a great addition to the special guests joining the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR in 2015. Diesel first burst on the music scene some 25 years ago.  With blues music in his DNA, an influence largely from his Father’s record collection, he has blended styles to come up with a truly unique sound, punctuated with his distinct guitar playing and vocals.  35 singles, 13 albums and 6 ARIA awards later, Diesel is guaranteed to put on an incredible show.

The RED HOT SUMMER TOUR always sells out well in advance, and year after year it has been proven to be one of the best value for money concert experiences in Australia. Music fans are recommended to get in early to secure their tickets so they don’t miss out on one of the biggest line-ups of Australian music royalty to share the same stage.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday 21st August 2014.
