Peace Train - The Cat Stevens Story returns in 2014

Peace Train The Cat Stevens Story

Darren Coggan

‘Intimate & Acoustic’

National Tour 2014

Give the gift of Peace this Christmas!

Continuing on from his successful tour in 2013, Peace Train – The Cat Stevens Story is back and touring Australia from February – June 2014.

Since its debut performance at the Wagga Civic Theatre back in 2009, Darren Coggan’s Peace Train, has gone on to inspire many others, playing to standing ovations in the most prestigious venues in Australia including The Sydney Opera House.

This tour of this shows’ incredible journey sees Darren recreating Cat’s timeless, intimate songs as they were originally written - on an acoustic guitar and piano, seeking out the man in the music and telling the story behind the songs.

“It’s been a wonderful journey touring Australia with this show and presenting Peace Train in a more intimate setting has been met with an amazing reaction from people all over the country,” said Darren Coggan.  “The singer-songwriter genre and particularly the music of Cat Stevens lends itself beautifully to an acoustic setting. It’s good to go back to the well and hear the songs as they were originally written, on just an acoustic guitar and piano.”

Back in the 70s, Cat Stevens was the ultimate rock star. Talented, charismatic, with a seemingly endless succession of beautiful melodies streaming from his imagination, the international singing star had everything. He sold more than 60 million albums, earned enough money to last several lifetimes, and enjoyed all the trappings of fame. But he wanted more out of life. So at the height of his career he shocked the world by taking his last bow. The music stopped and Cat Stevens was no more.

Peace Train is a night of music and story-telling which will strike a chord deep inside the heart of anyone who longs for something more, a journey back in time, with songs that still resonate today.  Hear twenty-four hits sung with remarkable authenticity by one of Australia’s most exciting artists. From Moonshadow, to Morning Has Broken, Wild World, Father & Son, First Cut Is The Deepest, Hard Headed Woman and Peace Train, Darren Coggan traces the path of a man who never stopped wondering about how to make the world a better place.

Darren Coggan has toured extensively with stage shows Grease – The Mega Musical, Happy Days – The Arena Mega Musical, and Shout – The Musical Of The Wild One. He has appeared regularly on TV, including several guest appearances on Channel 7's All Saints and currently is a presenter on Sydney Weekender. He has also been awarded two Golden Guitar awards at the CMAA Country Music Awards in 2001 and 2008.

Darren Coggan seamlessly weaves the Cat Stevens story in song and speech in what ends with a standing ovation - Sunday Herald Sun
Coggan sounds amazingly like Stevens. He has the timbre, the inflections and the feel of Cat’s music. The combination of Coggan’s affable persona, the intriguing story and the amazing catalogue of songs adds up to a winner - The Daily Telegraph
