MURWILLUMBAH COUNTRY ROOTS FEST EMBRACED BY THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

ORGANISERS EXPRESS THANKS TO THE TWEED SHIRE FOR THEIR SUPPORT

MURWILLUMBAH COUNTRY ROOTS FEST – 2-5 OCTOBER 2015

MURWILLUMBAH SHOWGROUNDS, MURWILLUMBAH NSW

Local residents and businesses in the Tweed Shire and surrounding areas have banded together in support of the upcoming Murwillumbah Country Roots Festival. The festival, held from 2 – 5 October, has seen a swag of locals volunteering their time and donating resources.

Festival organiser ARIA-nominated Australian country musician Lou Bradley says the help provided by locals in the shire and surrounds has helped ensure the new music festival will be kicking off its first year with great success. The first day of the event – Friday 2nd October – is already sold out, leaving only Saturday 3rd – Monday 5th October tickets available.

Bringing together more than 60 Australian-only acts including Kasey Chambers, Bill Chambers, Archie Roach, Sara Storer, Busby Marou and The Flood, to name a few, the festival will be held across four distinct performance spaces – the Wollumbin Stage, Men’s Shed, Opry Lounge and the new Porch Stage. The inaugural four day event is a great new attraction and a massive boost to the already spectacular Tweed Heads area.

"I think we all know that this is the start of something that will grow and develop in the years to come," says Lou. "Destination Tweed, the Murwillumbah Chamber of Commerce and AWOL Adventures are just a few local organisations that I’d like to recognise and thank for their sponsorship and support so far. I’m blown away by the amazing response and support from everyone in the local community as well as the broader Aussie music industry. It’s encouraging to see so many people who believe in the festival’s vision and are passionate about promoting and strengthening our incredibly talented Country and Roots artists and industry."

Destination Tweed and the Murwillumbah Chamber of Commerce will be holding a number of seminars and workshops in the lead up to the festival to give local artists and residents the opportunity to get involved and help make some of the festival props and lanterns.

AWOL Adventures have fitted out 16 of their ex-Australian Defence Force (ADF) Land Rovers with camping gear and made them exclusively available for hire to the Murwillumbah Country Roots Festival goers – providing convenient onsite accommodation as well as the opportunity to tour the surrounding Tweed Heads region. AWOL Adventures will also be providing the artist transport vehicles over the four days of the festival.

To get involved and volunteer with the inaugural Murwillumbah Country Roots Festival, contact Lou Bradley by visiting www.mcrfest.com or email volunteers.countryrootsfest@yahoo.com.au.

The Murwillumbah Country Roots Fest is held at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds in Murwillumbah NSW, 45-minutes north of Byron Bay and 45-minutes east of Nimbin. Day, weekend and remaining three-day passes are available from www.MCRFest.com
