CLAYMORE, CO-CHEOL, JANETTE GERI & NICOLAS LYON, SADIE MUSTOE
THE FLYING SAUCER CLUB
Saturday 19th September – 8PM
Celtic Rock sensations Claymore are teaming up with The Maldon Folk Festival to bring a taste of Folk to The Flying Saucer Club this September.
The showcase concert will feature some of the fine talent that will perform at this year’s festival.
Having toured Australia for many years Claymore have in recent time made it their mission to conquer the world one country at a time and they are well on their way. The band entertain audiences world-wide with their unique blend of Celtic Folk Rock, a mix of both modern self-penned and traditional songs, complete with a traditional dance troupe second to none!
Award winning vocal group Co-Cheòl are four lasses with some serious harmonising skills! They received the Peter J Daly Memorial Award for Best Up & Coming Celtic Act for the National Folk Festival 2015. They will take you on a journey to the lands of the Celts and beyond with breath-taking a cappella songs, as well as accompanied arrangements on the harp, flute, piano accordion, ukulele, and quirky body percussion.
Contemporary Celtic-Blues artist Janette Geri will be gracing audiences with her cool guitar playing and rich, powerful voice. Described as ‘Hauntingly beautiful’, she delivers both original and traditional songs of substance and charm. Accompanying her is Award Winning multi-instrumentalist Nicolas Lyon, who brings not only a vast amount of talent to the duo but a unique sound that can only be described as ‘magical’.
Hailing from the Dandenong Ranges, 12-year-old singer songwriter Sadie Mustoe is the youngest performer to ever grace the Saucer Stage. Performing mainly as a solo artist, Sadie’s well-crafted and beautifully written songs have awarded her with the title of 2014’s Macedon Minstrel Award. She is excited to be releasing her first EP at this year’s festival.
