Fans and Australian Music Industry to Pay Tribute to Australian Rocker Ted Mulry at Memorial Unveiling

Forest Lawn Memorial Park and the family of Ted Mulry would like to invite fans, friends and music industry colleagues to a special event on Saturday, 3rd September. Marking 10 years since Ted’s death, the nostalgic event will feature music from the 1960s and 70s, iconic Australian cars from the era, and an upbeat celebration of the life and times of Ted Mulry and his Gang. “He’s an Aussie icon. The Ted Mulry Gang, Skyhooks and Sherbet were it back in the 70s!” said Ted’s brother Steve Mulry. Ted began recording in 1970 with his first hit “Julia” racing up the charts that same year. After another couple of hit songs Ted moved into a more raunchy sound & formed the Ted Mulry Gang. TMG, as they became known as are best remembered for their tongue in cheek hit “Jump in My Car” but had many other hit singles during the 1970s making them one of the most successful and popular bands of the decade. They were also known for their constant performance schedule which saw them travel all over Australia as well as other parts of the world. Ted’s brother Steve Mulry who sings in his own band Black Label will also be performing at the event along with John Paul Young accompanied by Warren 'Pig" Morgan from The Allstar Band. Other artists and friends from this great period in Australian rock history will also be attending the memorial. At the conclusion of the event – which will include tribute videos, an open mike and a performance by Steve Mulry of “No Matter Where You Are”, a song he & Ted wrote together for Ted’s album “This Time” which was to become his final release - the special memorial to Ted will be unveiled. “As his family, the things Ted did and said are always with us,” said Steve Mulry. “But this event is bigger than that. This memorial is for the fans and for Ted’s friends.” Rob Matta, Forest Lawn Family Service Manager wanted to stress the importance of the event, “Memorials are a beautiful way to celebrate the life of a loved one and Ted’s family, friends and fans are keeping his memory and music alive by coming together and honouring him.

“Ted was a larrikin; he always made you laugh and had a joke. Everyone loved him. This isn’t going to be a day of mourning, but an opportunity to celebrate Ted’s life and achievements,” said Steve Mulry.

“We encourage all those who remember Ted and wish to pay tribute to attend” said Rob Matta.
