EUROGLIDERS reunite for special run of shows throughout 2014 - Experience a night of the Band's biggest hits!

One of Australia’s most successful recording bands from the 1980s, Eurogliders, are reuniting for a run of special shows throughout 2014. With a swag of hits to their name such as Heaven (Must Be There), We Will Together, City of Soul and Can’t Wait to See You to name a few, these concerts promise to be the perfect stroll down memory lane for music fans. After doing a handful of shows throughout Victoria last year, it’s evident that music fans still love the band’s music as much as when they smashed onto the Australian music scene with chart topping albums and singles.

Formed by Bernie Lynch and Grace Knight, Eurogliders not only toured to sell-out crowds in Australia, but also throughout NZ, Japan, the US and Canada. With Grace on vocals and Bernie on vocals and guitar, their live shows promised a powerhouse performance of anthems. The band also won a swag of Countdown and MTV awards, and were asked to perform on the MTV New Year’s Eve show which saw them perform in-front of a televised audience of 65 million globally.

Grace says she didn’t think twice about reuniting the band. "I jumped at the chance of getting back onstage with Bernie and singing our old hits, plus a few newies," she says. "I like the challenge of jumping from one genre to another." Bernie says while it’s been a while between gigs, the band never actually broke up. "It always feels very comfortable up there on stage and we have played these songs so many times over the years that a break between shows allows the songs to breathe a little…like wine," he says. "They always come up a bit different, but they are the same recongisable songs that audiences have loved and sung along with in the past. This time will be no different."

Bernie says the shows will feature a bit of the past and a bit of now. "We move on as artists, as songwriters and as performers as well and simply must invigorate our own creativity from time to time by introducing some new songs and new ideas into the repertoire," he says. "We will sing all of the hits because we love them as much as our audiences, but we will be playing some more recent material as well. Every time we put out a new album, we ask a lot of our fans, we ask them to travel along a path with us, to explore that path with us and to perhaps enjoy what they see. It’s sometimes scary as a performer to ask that of audiences but if you don't have faith in peoples’ ability to listen and decide for themselves, why get up on stage in the first place? I have never doubted an audiences ability to make decisions for themselves and am quietly confident that, as in the past, people will like our new songs and take them to heart as much as they songs like Heaven and We Will Together."

Grace says she is really looking forward to seeing fans who spent their youth bopping at Eurogliders gigs with their kids in tow. "Hopefully parents will take the opportunity to embarrass their offspring by dancing and singing loudly," she says. A Eurogliders tour definitely brings up memories for the band and audiences alike. Grace fondly recalls the 80s and the band’s crazy touring schedule. "I think I spent that decade at a sewing machine backstage while making clothes for that night’s performance," she laughs. "Then there were the shenanigans on the tour bus that I couldn’t repeat in polite company and the camaraderie with the band and crew."

Bernie also has fond memories. " There was Grace diving into audiences attempting to stop guys fighting, long but fun hours in studios experimenting and wandering the fields of Wales mushroom hunting while taking an early morning break during the 'This Island' recording process," he says. "Also being joined on stage by large numbers of our audience every night as they helped us sing and dance... and finally the simple task of song writing, so rewarding, but so hard." Despite all the memories, Bernie is quick to point out that it’s not so much about memory lane for the band but more about their past, present and future. "These are songs that remain in our psyche and forever will, whether you hear them on radio or while you are shopping at Woolworths, they are still as vibrant as they ever were," he says. "People got married to our songs and now their children come to our shows, it’s as exciting as it ever was and we are so thankful for that."
