CD Review: 'Last Look at Eden' - Europe

Thanks to Mat Newton for the following review...

Before this album landed at my doorstep, I didn’t even realise Europe were still going but it appears they have released three albums since 2004. ‘Last Look at Eden’ is their latest, which was released in September of 2009. I’m sure most people are aware of their song ‘The Final Countdown’ which could possibly be their most popular song. Well, this album is nothing like that at all.… Continue

Review: John Paul Young - Twin Towns Services Club, Coolangatta Saturday 31st July 2010

The crowd at Twin Towns on Saturday night was a mixture of ages. Admittedly, most were over forty, but there was a fair smattering of punters far too young to remember… Continue

Tom Ferris grew up in the 60’s and studied classical guitar from the age of eight. Tom recalls, ”How lucky was I that we lived so close to a teacher who taught me the value of being able to read music, it was a springboard that has over the years opened so many musical doors for me.”

Review: THE CULT - The Tivoli, Brisbane Wednesday 5th May 2010

Thanks to Maxine Hoyle for the following review…

Rock band The Cult proved they still have a ‘cult’ following after their sell out performance at the Tivoli theatre in Brisbane on Wednesday. 15 years after gracing our shores as part of the Big Day Out in 1995.

The tour 'Love Live', showcasing the entire 1985 album 'Love’, showed fans it was worth the wait.

Performing in front of a backdrop of psychedelic and American Indian imagery, flickering on the big… Continue

Review: CAROLE KING & JAMES TAYLOR - Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Wednesday 31st March 2010

Like millions of others around the world, I had a copy of Carole King’s landmark Tapestry album amongst my record collection. And, like millions of others around the world, I played it over and over again, memorising each and every word to each and every song. And, again, like millions of others around the world, I grew up listening to such haunting James Taylor classics as ‘Fire and Rain’. Two legendary superstars whose music formed an integral part of my life’s soundtrack and whom I never…

Review: ROSS WILSON: 5 Decades of Cool - State Theatre, Sydney 28.11.09

It was a rather hot spring night when Sydney’s iconic State Theatre played host to another Aussie icon. Celebrated rock legend, Ross Wilson, took to the stage to entertain the audience with his aptly named ‘5 Decades of Cool’ concert. Supported by various musicians who have played alongside him throughout those five decades, the singer performed hit after hit from his vast catalogue of music, including tunes from his early bands, The Pink Finks and The Party Machine as well as, naturally, some… Continue
